Brooklyn roofing on the Hawkesbury River

Brooklyn is the northernmost suburb of Sydney, sitting on the Hawkesbury where the river opens out, with Muogamarra Nature Reserve wrapping the land behind it. The name goes back to an 1884 subdivision; before that it was the crossing at Peats Ferry. Boats leave from Parsley Bay, and the ferry runs across to Dangar Island, which has no cars on it at all.

Access, water and weather
